G-Scale - Donner's Pass   to   Tehachapi

Southern-Pacific

Following are photos taken in December 2013 during the coldest weather in   Southern California (approx. +31 degrees).  70% of the evergreen dwarf trees were acquired from Miniforest.com an Oregon based tree farm.  Due to the extreme heat in Summer, (108 degrees),  each of the 786 trees has a 1gph drip to retain soil moisture and root depth.  Drip system is on a timer, running for 15 minutes, 3 times per week.  Some of the trees suffered slightly prior to adding the drips, but have been retained.....some careless campers caused a small forest fire? They are recovering with new green.......all part of a realistic miniature forest!
